Not sure if this is how it will go-- Donna's first meting with Jack (and Cameron is also traveling with the Doctor.)
“I’ll go find the Doctor,” Donna said to Cameron as she left the console room.
She ran down the hall, trying to think where the Doctor might be, when she
noticed a door that was ajar. She threw the door open, took a breath to say
“Doctor“, then changed her mind when she spotted the Doctor.
“What!” She blushed then slammed the door shut. Leaning her back against the
door, Donna muttered, “I did not just see that.”
Cameron ran into the hallway. “Donna, are you all right?” She stopped in front
of Donna and frowned. “Did you find the Doctor?” she asked carefully.
“Yes I did.”
“Is he all right?”
Donna nodded. “I’m guessing he’s feeling top of the world right now.”
A quizzical look crossed Cameron’s face and she reached out and opened the door.
Looking over her shoulder, Donna could see the Doctor-- who was probably naked under that
tangled up blanket-- lying on his back and holding a pillow over his face, while
the man who had been sleeping behind him was now sitting up and looking towards
the door with an amused look on his face.
The man grinned as Cameron stepped into the room. “Hi Cameron,” he said.
Cameron shook her head and smiled. “Hi Jack.” She turned to Donna. “Yeah, I’m
guessing the Doctor’s feeling really good right about now.”
“Well, if I did my job right he is,” Jack said.
“Jack!” the Doctor shouted.
“What?”
The Doctor hit him with the pillow. Jack just laughed at him. The Doctor rolled
his eyes and sat up. Looking at the two of them, he asked, “Is there a reason…”
He waved his hand in their direction.
Cameron crossed her arms. “We’ve landed,” she said.
“Landed?”
“Yes. The TARDIS took off as soon as we got on board, then landed almost
immediately after that.”
The Doctor frowned. “That’s odd,” he said. “She’s not supposed to do that.” He started to flip the blanket off, but stopped when Jack wrapped
his arms around him. Giving Jack an exasperated look, the Doctor muttered under
his breath, “Now is not the time, Jack.”
Jack chuckled and rested his chin on the Doctor’s shoulder. “I’m sure Cameron
wouldn’t blink an eye at you prancing around naked-- considering she’s a
doctor-- but I’m guessing Donna might have a thing or two to say about that.”
“Oh, you bet I will. Starting with, would you look at yourself Doctor? You need
to put on a few pound there mister. I mean, really, you look like a twig sitting
next to him!”
A delighted grin appeared on Jack. “Oh, I like her,” Jack said.
The Doctor gave him a look. “You can’t have her.”
“Hey!” Donna crossed her arms. “I’ll make my own decisions about who’s going to
have me, thank you very much!”
The Doctor let his head fall back against Jack’s shoulder as he said to the
ceiling, “Why do I do this to myself?”
“Do you really want an answer to that?”
“Shut up Jack.”
“Yes Doctor.”
“We’ll just wait outside,” Cameron said. Once they were in the hall, Donna asked
her, “So you know this Jack guy?”
“Yes. The first time I saw him, he was checking me, Chase and Foreman out during
a differential. He then kissed Wilson, which ticked off House and started an
argument about when Jack was allowed to kiss Wilson, which was never, and then
it escalated to when Jack could have sex with Wilson, which was only when House
was present and could have sex with Jack at the same time, and then Jack kissed
House and took off to take Cuddy on a date.”
“Really?”
“Yep.”
“Wow.”
“Yeah.”
They were startled when the door suddenly swung opened. Jack stepped out,
barefooted, dressed only in a pair of gray slacks. “Sorry,” he said, “pants were
the last thing off.” He held his hand out to Donna and smiled. “Captain Jack
Harkness, nice to met you.”
Donna couldn’t help but to smile back as she shook his hand. “Donna Noble, the
pleasures all mine.” They started back towards the console room, Jack occasionally bending over to pick up a stay piece of clothing, and
Donna asked, “So, how long have you known the Doctor?”
Jack shrugged. “A little over two thousand years.”
“What?”
Cameron frowned. “Really? It‘s been that long since we last saw you?” she asked.
“Yep.” Jack stepped over to the console and dropped some of the clothes he had
picked up to one side then pulled his t-shirt on. Once he had that on, he
activated the scanner. “Cardiff?” he said, then he chuckled and patted the
console. “Oh, beautiful, you are a sneaky one.”
Donna was sure the TARDIS was pleased with Jack’s praise.
Jack flipped a switch. One of the main doors opened, and a young man dressed in
a suit and tie carrying what looked like a mug of coffee walked in. He glanced
around the room, then spotted Jack. He stopped and rolled his eyes as Jack
bounded over to him.
“Having fun sir?” he asked as he handed Jack the mug.
Jack took a sip and gave the man a happy sigh. “I am now that I have some of
your wonderful coffee in me Ianto.”
Ianto shook his head. “Glad I could help.”
The Doctor stepped into the console room and stopped when he saw Ianto. “We’re
in Cardiff?” He looked at the console. “You too, huh.”
The TARDIS blinked a few console lights at him.
Ianto looked at Jack. “Do I want to know what’s going on?” He seemed surprised
when Jack leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek. before answering
“I have something I need to talk to you about,” Jack said softly.
Donna caught a flash of disappointment on Ianto’s face, a flash that was quickly
covered up. Ianto nodded. “You don’t have to ask me, Jack. It’s fine of you want
to leave, I understand.” She saw the Doctor look away, his attention suddenly
focused on a few buttons on the console, a small smile on his face.
Jack shook his head. “I’m not leaving with the Doctor.”
“You’re not?”
“No.” Jack took a deep breath. “However, I am moving. You and Gwen were right.
I’ve been at Torchwood too long and I need a break. Gwen is more than ready to take over, and the new team is doing just fine.” He gently rested a
hand on Ianto’s cheek. “I was hoping you’ll come with me.”
Before Ianto could rely, Jack said, “Before you answer, there’s something else I
need to ask you first. Do you still want children, Ianto? You said once that you
and Lisa were hoping to start a family.”
“We were, but I don‘t need…”
“I do, Ianto.”
A curious expression crossed Ianto’s face as he looked between the Doctor and
Jack. “Yours and the Doctor’s?” he asked.
Jack nodded and let his hand fall away. “I know I’m asking a lot from you but
the Doctor can’t stay in one place too long-- and the TARDIS isn’t the safest
place to raise a child; neither is Torchwood. But I’ve already agreed to it. I
want to do this, even if I have to do it alone. If you say yes though, you'd
have to move with me to New Jersey and put up with me being more grabby than
usual for a few months, and there’ll be the odd requests for weird food, and
then there’s the diapers and the bottles and first day of school, and dates and…”
“Jack.”
“Yes?”
“You’re babbling.”
“Oh.”
“And the answer is yes.”
“What?” Donna watched the coffee cup tremble in Jack’s hand as he stared at
Ianto.
“Yes,” Ianto said again.
“You don’t have to answer right now. You should think about…”
“You want me to move in with you, help you raise the child you’re going to have
with the Doctor, the Doctor isn’t going to live with us but is going to be part
of this relationship, and we probably won’t get any sleep for the next twenty
year. Is that about right?”
“The child will probably be telepathic at birth too,” the Doctor added.
Ianto glanced at the Doctor. “Right.” He looked back at Jack. “And the answer is
still yes.”
Donna quickly took the mug out of Jack's hand before he dropped it, and smiled
at Jack’s slightly dazed, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” she said as Jack cupped Ianto’s face with his hands. Jack
kissed Ianto then pulled back.
“Have I ever told you how much I love you?” Jack said.
“Several times a day, though I’m usually handing you a cup of coffee at the
time, so feel free to repeat yourself anytime sir.”
Donna grinned as they kissed again. She then leaned over to the Doctor. “So,"
she said, "who gets to be in charge of the baby shower Doctor?”
“I’ll go find the Doctor,” Donna said to Cameron as she left the console room.
She ran down the hall, trying to think where the Doctor might be, when she
